Seeking in Town

This is a game environment design project using Maya and Blender for modelling, procreate for texturing and Unreal Engine 5 for environment making.

The Story

The main character is a rat who came home one day and found his family disappeared because of mice extermination. He then went through the map to look for them and accidentally entered a bolier room where the mice extermination center is located. In the bolier room he gradually made his way up to the higher level of the city and found his family.

Map blocking

I was mainly responsible for this part. After group discussion and exchanging sketches, we decided to have a Y shape map with a river in the middle. The main environment is a street with a big building in the middle in which the transform happens, and a wall of elevation separating the brownstone district.
The street is curved to reduce blank space at the end of the map and create more visual interest in this relatively small space.

Transforming

The bolier room of the rat extermination center.
This part was designed, built and textured by myself with some reference form my favourite game Genshin Impact. The rat is guided to this scene with light through a vent. The rat is here to look for his family since this is where all rats were exterminated after they are caught. However, as he climb along the walkway and search the whole place, he will realize that his families are not here. At the end of the walk way, an empty tube will guide him to the next scene.
